Ryan Rosenbaum claims Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Ryan Rosenbaum of Swim Fort Lauder claimed gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on day two of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, July 13.
The 17-year-old Rosenbaum remained dominant over his challengers from the start and with his continued efforts, sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
His relentless efforts placed him a half body length lead over his strongest challenger as he tapped the wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 05.29 seconds.
The champion was chased by Alex Rodriguez of South Florida Aquatics, who stayed 0.56 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder by clocking a time of 1 minute and 05.85 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Diguan Pigot of Metro Aquatic Club, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from improving his position and reached the podium for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 06.02 seconds.
Subsequently, Pigot was chased by Luke C Torres of South Florida Aquatics, who stayed 0.99 seconds away from securing his spot on the medal rostrum as he finished fourth in the discipline by posting a time of 1 minute and 07.01 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was secured by Gregory Penny of Westminster Academy, who suffered a loss of 0.40 seconds from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 07.41 seconds.
Penny was trailed by Christian Downing of Charles River Aquatics, who stayed almost 0.80 seconds apart and posted an effort of 1 minute and 08.20 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was gained by Jordy Groters of Davie Nadadores, who was only 0.10 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 08.30 seconds.
Similarly, Groters remained 0.78 seconds faster from Aaron Custodio of Swim Florida-FL, who ended his race in eighth best place by ending his swim in a time of 1 minute and 09.08 seconds.
Rosenbaum was very pleased with his feat in the event and received enormous appreciation from the crowd after the session.
