Ryan Spilborghs sparks as Colorado Rockies defeat Milwaukee Brewers 12-3 – MLB Recap
Colorado Rockies’ out-fielder, Ryan Spilborghs was outstanding with his bat as he had four RBIs including one home-run and went 4-for-6 with an average of .234 in the Rockies’ 12-3 win against the Milwaukee Brewers at Coors Field, Colorado on July 14.
At the top of the first inning, the Brewers’ batters scored their first run when Prince Fielder doubled to left-field and Ryan Braun posted one run. On the other hand, Spilborghs tied the game 1-1 by hitting a one-run homer (383 feet) towards left-field
at the bottom of the first inning.
The game again levelled in the second inning with a 2-2 score. Yuniesky Betancourt scored a leading run for the Brewers on the double-run shot of Yovani Gallardo towards deep right-centre. Ubaldo Jimenez singled to shallow centre-field and Ty Wigginton added
a tie run for the Rockies. In the third inning, the batters got out without posting a single run.
The Rockies exploded four quick runs in the fourth inning to go-ahead 6-2. Ian Stewart, Chris Iannetta, Spilborghs and Mark Ellis each scored one run for the Rockies to finish the four-run fourth inning. The pitchers struck-out the batters during the fifth
inning and did not give any run to them.
Jimenez outclassed the batters with his pitching as he pitched six innings with an ERA of 4.08 and gave up just two runs on six hits. He was able to strike-out four batters and walked two on his 96 pitches.
Ellis doubled off centre-field and Spilborghs scored one run at the bottom of the sixth inning to raise the Rockies’ lead 7-2. In the seventh inning, the Rockies’ batters again scored four runs to extend their lead 11-2 when Wigginton, Stewart, Iannetta
and Cole Garner each contributed individual one run to complete a four-run campaign.
In the eighth inning, Wigginton added a single run when Garner reached towards short-stop position on an infield single and gave the Rockies a 12-2 lead. On the other side, the Brewers were able to post only one run in the ninth inning to cut their deficit
12-3. Corey Hart hit a solo homer (392 feet) to right-field.
With this comfortable win, the Rockies were on top with 1-0 in a four-game series at Coors Field.
