Newcastle United have been hit with bad news regarding Ryan Taylor’s injury. The versatile defender faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off in the game against Atromitos.
Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew had been concerned about the player’s injury after he was carried off on Thursday night’s game. The manager had also admitted that Newcastle might be forced back into the transfer market to provide adequate defensive cover.
However, the club has not signed anyone, and with the transfer window closed, Newcastle will have to make do with what they have. Adding insult to injury, the club was informed today that Taylor faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
A statement on the club’s website read:
"Ryan Taylor will be ruled out for several months after suffering a knee injury during Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Atromitos.”
"Taylor underwent a scan on Friday afternoon, of which the results showed he has sustained a serious injury which will see him sidelined for months rather than weeks.”
"Everyone at [the] club wishes the popular player well in his recovery from the injury."
The player could be out of the squad for six months. Luckily for Newcastle, they were able to survive the remainder of the game without Taylor and managed to win the game 1-0, progressing through to the group stages of the competition.
The Magpies will surely miss the versatile left back, who gave them a lifeline in the first leg of the play off against Atromitos in Athens. Taylor had helped Newcastle equalize through a brilliantly struck free kick which gave the club a vital away goal
advantage going into the second leg.
The player’s injury has visibly become a cause of concern for Pardew, who was hoping to sign a player before the transfer window closed. However, Pardew will find comfort in the fact that he has Danny Simpson to count on in the wake of the defender's absence.
Simpson had long been linked with a move away from St. James’s Park, with Reading the most likely destination. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Guthrie had joined the Royals earlier in the summer, and it was believed that Simpson might follow his teammate there.
However, the player has become vital to Newcastle’s cause and has featured for them in both their Premier League games.
