Ryan Taylor wants Newcastle improvement
Newcastle defender Ryan Taylor has stated that the team must get better at home if they are to stay in the Premier League.
Newcastle has had two successive defeats at St. James Park so far this season. They have lost to Stoke City and Blackpool in the last two games, and Taylor is disappointed that his side could not win against two possible relegation rivals.
"We should be picking up points but we haven't, we need to concentrate on the home form," Taylor told BBC Newcastle.
The Newcastle defender joined the club in February 2009 from Wigan Athletic, and has played in 49 games for the Magpies.
He has only made three appearances this season and the defender is hoping that if called upon, he can help the team improve on their good start, especially at home.
The Newcastle defender added, "When Blackpool and Stoke come here, we should be picking up points from them."
Newcastle was undefeated at St. James Park last season and Taylor believes that they will need to find that same form and recreate that feeling of invincibility on the ground.
Away from home, Newcastle has been very strong and has surprised many pundits on their away trips.
They have been beaten only once in five games this season, defeating Everton 1-0 in the Premier League and Chelsea 4-3 in the third round of the Carling Cup.
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has been delighted with his side’s away form, in a run that has only seen them lose to Manchester United on the opening day of the season.
"It's been one of those seasons so far, we've picked up results where people don't see us picking up results...but it just shows what character we've got when we go to places like Wolves and Everton and pick up points there."
