Ryan Trebon is hopeful for the season ahead as he aims the Worlds Championships 2012
American cyclist, Ryan Trebon is hopeful for the coming US National and the World Championships 2012. The cyclist crashed during the training session at the day two of the Energy USGP Derby City.
Ryan has not ridden since he suffered a severe knee injury during the crash. The cyclist was wearing the leader’s jersey before the accident and was hopeful to win the race.
However, luck went against Ryan as he ended the race at the 10th position overall, 2 minutes and 21 seconds behind the race leader.
Jeremy Powers won the event, with Todd Wells and Geoff Kabush at the second and third positions at USGP 2011, respectively.
The cyclist now believes that he has fully recovered from the crash and is positive for the coming season.
The American entered the event with a solid lead of 42 points and an overall lead over Jeremy Powers. He was amongst the favourites to win the event but the unfortunate incident crushed his hopes as he abandoned the race.
Trebon mentioned, "I am feeling better now, I'm able to train, I just can't operate fully. I have to sit out a couple of weeks and I'll be back and raring to go for nationals".
The cyclist is keeping himself fit, as the US national championships are approaching in a month’s time, followed by the World Championships 2012 in about seven weeks.
He stated, “I leave the day after nats and go to Europe and do the last two World Cups, the Worlds and hopefully a few races after that".
Ryan further added, "There are seven weeks before Koksijde so I'm not too worried, as long as I don't re-injure before that. It'd be nice to do some running training before that, but it is what it is".
Powers mentioned that he is looking forward to winning the coming USGP again in 2012 but he will certainly miss Ryan in the race.
He also mentioned that Ryan’s presence in the race puts more pressure on him and makes the competition tougher and exciting.
Trebon will indeed miss the Cyclo-cross 2012 as he still cannot run because of the crash. It is believed that the cyclist is recovering from the injury and will be seen in action in the coming weeks.
