Ryan Vogelsong’s pitching helps San Francisco Giants defeat Texas Rangers 11-8 – MLB Update
Ryan Vogelsong put in a brilliant pitching performance as the San Francisco Giants defeated Texas Rangers 11-8 at Surprise Stadium in Arizona on March 13.
Vogelsong gets pleasure from every moment of his effort to make a come-back into the Major League for the primary time in five years. As a reliever, Vogelsong permitted just two runs and four hits.
Ryan directed his last game as a sign of development. The Rangers covered the bases with three infield singles in the third inning, counting a run from Julio Borbon that tapped along the third-base streak before getting stopped by the fielder. However, Vogelsong
handled the situation to bind the damage of one run.
Vogelsong talked about his past and current performance and said, "In the past when that happened I would have been trying to throw the ball harder. I'm able to slow the game down better now. I just try to throw strikes, pound the strike zone, and let the
ball do what it's going to do."
After the game, Vogelsong expressed his excitement and said, "I'm having a lot of fun. The days I'm pitching I'm super excited. I can't wait. Even between innings I can't wait to get back on the mound."
Vogelsong is a non-roster draftee in the Giants’ squad, as he is a special pitcher with a Win-Loss record of 10-22 with an ERA of 5.86 in his starting 120 Major League games.
Rangers’ starting pitcher Tommy Hunter threw just over three innings, permitting seven runs, four of which were earned and had nine hits.
"He got to two outs a couple of times, two strikes, and just couldn't put them away," Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said. "He's got to work on that third out. We definitely need to see a better job of that going forward."
Hunter, who played as the Rangers' third or fourth starter, gave up just 11 runs, eight earned and 14 strikes in just over six innings in his last two starts. Both starts were against the Giants.
The Rangers’ short-stop Elvis Andrus went 2-for-4 with three and five RBIs and David Murphy made a solo homer. The Giants’ Pablo Sandoval had two runs for three at-bats with three RBIs.
San Francisco managed to put in a tremendous effort as they were able to restrict the Rangers’ offence from scoring. Vogelsong pitched brilliantly for the Giants. The Rangers will be disappointed that they were unable to get their offence to fire and make
some much needed runs to support their pitching line-up.
