Ryan Williams out for Virginia Tech
Ryan Williams will not be available to the Virginia Tech Hokies for their game on Saturday against ACC rivals Boston College, due to injury.
Williams was forced out of last week’s victory over East Carolina with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately for the Hokies, Williams is still not fit to participate in an all important conference game this weekend.
Virginia Tech will miss Williams as they go on the road to Boston College in hopes of earning their first win at Alumni Stadium since 2002. Moreover, the Eagles will be out for revenge after suffering an
embarrassing 48-14 loss at the hands of the Hokies last year.
Virginia Tech has struggled so far this season, starting off the year with losses to Boise State and James Madison. However, the Hokies managed to get their game back on track against East Carolina last week.
The club seemed to be making strides on offence thanks to their strong rushing game, which sees them ranked, 26th in the country.
Williams has managed 139 yards in 46 attempts to go along with three touchdowns this year. Last season the sophomore put up even more impressive numbers, tallying 1,794 yards and 24 touchdowns. The youngster
brings a great deal to the offence and the Hokies will certainly be keen to get him back.
Williams is expected to be replaced by junior Darren Evans, who should fill in well with his 134 yards and one touchdown this season.
Virginia Tech will also be without defensive tackle Kwamaine Battle, fullback Josh Oglesby and linebackers Barquell Rivers and Lorenzo Williams.
Missing both their running back and fullback is likely to affect the Hokies game plan, as the club may be more inclined to build off an impressive game from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who threw for 199 yards
against East Carolina.
The Hokies are 1-2 and will face Boston College on Saturday, followed by a visit to North Carolina State in week five.
