Ryan Zimmerman will likely return on Tuesday after shoulder inflammation - MLB Update
Originally planned to play against the Miami Marlins, Ryan Zimmerman sat out after feeling tightness in the shoulders. Although he had not gone through MRI and neither did he aim to go for this, it was reported that inflammation was of not very severe
What he felt without proper MRI exam evidence was not wrong as he has started feeling better now and probably will be making it to the field on Tuesday.
After a rest of a few days, he will be resuming play. The Nationals cannot afford to lose a pinch hitter at a time they are on their way to pile on victories.
With Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth, he can promise a late upsurge in case the offence fails at the start.
His career record of 129 homers and 505 RBIs explain a potential contribution he has for the Nationals.
From now on, manager will have to be cautious in dealing with Zimmerman. He will make sure he is properly examined before he is given the nod for playing.
As the season progresses, his presence will be needed more and therefore, even if the manager has to live without him for few games at this time, having him in the crucial matches late in the season is what he will prefer the most.
Zimmerman has an explanation, saying he was confident enough to have managed playing but the fact his shoulder was giving him some issues, as he commented that he did not want to ruin his performance with that injury at the back of his mind.
“It’s nothing,” Zimmerman said. “It’s something that I could have played through. It’s been bugging me, and then it would go away a couple days. I’ve been diving all over the place over there. It’s just like a jammed finger, pretty much. I’m going to give
it a couple days of rest, it’ll go away and I’ll be good to go on Tuesday.”
Whether he will be able to earn the call on Tuesday is not yet confirmed.
Manager Davey Johnson will check the table and will come up with the decision after the consultation.
The fact Zimmerman is okay, not troubled with the shoulder anymore, one can expect with a reason that he will be making the line-up on the day.
