Ryan ten Doeschate helps Netherlands post 292 against England in World Cup 2011
A splendid century from Ryan ten Doeschate helped the Netherlands score 292 runs against England in their opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The match is being played at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
The conditions at Nagpur were perfect for batting and there was no surprise at the toss, as the Dutch captain won the toss and elected to bat first. Netherlands started the innings with confidence. Openers Alexei Kervezee and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wesley-Barresi-c96487 followed a certain
plan and complemented each other nicely. Barresi attacked from one end while Kervezee rotated the strike from the other.
However, Kervezee failed to capitalise on the good start he had got to his innings, and was dismissed after scoring 16 runs off 25 balls in the seventh over. His dismissal brought Tom Cooper to the middle and he tried to steady the innings for his team.
Barresi played well for his 29 off 25 balls before he was stumped by Matt Prior with a smart piece of glove-work. Netherlands were 58 for two when ten Doeschate joined http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cooper-c51561 at the crease.
The pair played with effortless ease and took their team’s total to 136 runs in 28 overs with a brilliant 78-run partnership. Cooper played well until he chipped one ball straight into the hands of James Anderson off the bowling of Paul Collingwood. The

Although few of the Netherlands batsmen did a very good job, the star of the show was ten Doeschate, who scored a magnificent 119 runs off 110 balls to surprise the Poms. The stylish middle-order batsman was dismissed in the second last over of the innings,
trying to increase the run-rate. Netherlands Captain Peter Borren remained unbeaten on 35 off 24 balls in the end.
Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad were the main wicket-takers for their team. Both took two wickets each in the match. England will have to play exceptionally well in order to avoid the first upset of this year’s World Cup.
