Ryane Clowe and Johan Franzen out for game 7
One of the biggest stories ahead of game 7 between the Detroit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks, is that one team got a little better, while the other got a little weak.
The reason for the above statement is the fact that the Sharks are welcoming back their key and premier offensive player, Ryane Clowe.
On the other hand, the Red Wings face the problem of not being at their best as Johan Franzen is out of action. This comes as a great disappointment for one team while the other would be glad.
Clowe missed the last game between the two sides after he sustained an upper body injury that kept him out of the action. Franzen on the other hand also missed game 6 of the series due to ankle problems but the problem is that he is also out of the crucial
game 7, as he is unfit, though he took part in the practice session.
The Sharks confidence will be sky high and they will all be boosted due to the fact that Clowe is their top scorer with 13 during the current play-offs. Game 5 witnessed Niklas Kronwall hitting Clowe with great force that was said to be the cause of the
injury.
However, later on coach of the Sharks, Todd McLellan, confirmed that the hit was not the cause of the injury.
It will be difficult for the Red Wings to fill up the gap that has developed with the absence of Franzen but they have some good players sitting on the bench. Kris Draper is expected to be the most likely inclusion, who sat out during game 6 of the series.
Draper was on the bench for the first two games after which, he appeared in the next three games.
However, he hasn’t come up with anything extraordinary during the current season, as he has come up with a single assist in the last seven play-offs games that he has played. There is a very big chance that Jamie McGinn will take Franzen’s spot while Draper
will be playing in place of Mike Modano, who was seen on ice, for the first time in the series for game 6.
