Ryder Cup 2010, US takes the lead on the second day
The team from United States has earned an early edge at the Ryder Cup, grabbing a 2½-1½ lead after the rain-delayed the opening four balls.
This lead was given by the rookies Jeff Overton and Bubba Watson, who earned their first full point on Saturday with a 3 and 2 under victory over the Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington. Then Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods came up shoulder to shoulder and
took the American side into the lead with a 2-up win over Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher.
Today is a hectic day at the Twenty ten course because of Friday's rain delays, which stretched to a span of seven hours. Just 12 minutes, after Stricker and Woods notched their victory, the first of six alternate-shot matches is scheduled to tee off. If
this pleasant weather persists, the third session with two alternate-shot matches and four more four balls will start in the late afternoon.
Owning to the delay, the Americans got new rain gears and a lead whereas on the other side Ross Fisher and Ian Poulter mocked each other and spent all their time taking Tiger Woods down. The latest activity after the ‘Harrington sleeping pictures’ is the
play station game in the European camp. The target of all the players is the world number one Tiger Woods. If they can’t take him down on the course, then no worries as they are certainly are doing a good job on their PSPs.
Even Luke Donald is posing as himself and knocking Tiger down every time he gets spare time in the club house.
Yesterday, Harrington was caught sleeping on the floor of the club house and his team mate, Poulter took his picture and posted it on his Twitter page. He promptly became the butt of every joke being raised in the club house.
This is all for now as the Ryder Cup is in progress, which means there is a lot more to come. Europe started the four balls with an early lead but the coin has flipped to American side. Overton, Watson, Stricker and Tiger are the four names that have earned
United States points. Whereas Mickelson and Cink have lost both their four balls against Westwood and Kaymer.
