Ryder Cup players stay sharp
The biggest golfing spectacle of the year is about to tee off in the coming week and the USA team is more eager than ever to overcome the dominance of Europeans in the Ryder Cup.
The Ryder Cup will take place in Chicago, Illinois, from the 25th to the 30th of September.
Currently, the Europeans look to be in the driving seat, with Rory McIlroy the man to beat at the moment.
FedEx Cup playoff Tour Championship will be under way on Thursday. The whole of the USA team will take the field at East Lake, whereas only five of the Europeans will be eyeing  the $10 million purse.
The physical standards of players have always been on the rise but after all, they are all humans and they need rest. Since the Open Championship, it has been one tournament after another - there has been hardly any time for the players to rest.
Jason Dufner was intelligent enough to not to play at The Barclays and get some rest.
The Ryder Cup is such a unique and pressure packed tournament that no preparation can be enough for his mega event. Neither team can afford a lapse in concentration in such situations, not even for a second, as continental glory is at stake.
Team USA has been divided over their views regarding the tight schedule leading up to the Ryder Cup.
"It keeps us fresh, but I hope it doesn't get us burned out, as well, playing that much golf," Tiger Woods said at The Barclays.
Playing on the trot is preferred by those who are in sublime form but for those who are struggling, there is hardly any time to recover.
Phil Mickelson has praised the standards of the FedEx Cup, as he feels that, since this Cup, Team USA’s performance has improved.
"If you look back at the U.S. record since the FedEx Cup has been in existence [2007], our record in the team competitions from Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup has been extremely good, with the only loss being The Ryder Cup two years ago," Mickelson said earlier
this year.
The Tour Championship will be the last chance for those looking to adjust their games before the Ryder Cup.
