Ryo Fujimoto obtains Men’s 200m IM gold – Australian Youth Olympic Festival
Ryo Fujimoto of Japan obtained gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on last day of the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival at Berkeley Aquatic Club, on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Fujimoto stifled hopes of his opponents in the 200m discipline as he showed no mercy to his competitors and transpired on the wall for gold medal. With his gruelling pace, he enjoyed a comfortable lead over his toughest challenger secured the title.
The 17-year-old Fujimoto stayed full body length ahead of his following swimmer and touched the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 03.29 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Evan White of Canada, who stayed 1.01 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 04.30 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Bradlee Ashby of New Zealand, who stayed 0.07 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.37 seconds.
Fourth position holder of the event was obtained by Benjamin Gratz of Hungary, who was more than a body length behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 05.53 seconds.
Gratz was traced by Liam Cunneen of Australia Gold, who stayed one and a half body length behind and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 06.77 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the event was obtained by James Traiforos of Australia Green, who was 0.39 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.16 seconds.
Traiforos was chased by Damian Fyfe of Australia Gold, who occupies seventh position of the race by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.00 seconds.
Last spot of the event was gained by Nicholas Groenewald of Australia Green, who remained 0.28 seconds behind and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 08.28 seconds.
In addition, Fujimoto received massive admiration from the audience for his commendable form and collected medals and accolades for his unmatchable efforts at the victory ceremony of the event.
