Ryo Ishikawa has high plans this year at Japan Golf Tour and US based PGA
Ryo Ishikawa is expecting to gain some more respect at the Japan Golf Tour, by teeing-off this week at the Token Homemate Cup.
The 20-year-old Japanese professional is in the field of the Token Homemate Cup, a season opening tournament in Japan.
This tournament is staged at the amazing site of the Token Tado Country Club Nagoya and the purse is ¥130,000,000. It was established in 1989 and is the most successful tournament in the Asian region.
Since 2011, Ishikawa has not won any titles. He has faced many hurdles and tough rivals, at both the Japan Golf Tour and Professional Golf Association Tour (PGA).
He has two major goals this year. The first plan is to win his second career money title in Japan. The second one is for the US based PGA Tour, as he aims to finish the current year among the top-125 of the money list ranking.
By earning more and finishing a year among the top-125 will honour him with a tour card for the upcoming year. Hence, he is striving hard to achieve the PGA Tour card for 2013.
“I didn't win last year, but I put myself in contention a lot of times,” Ishikawa said on Wednesday at Token Tado Country Club. “I try to think I was just unlucky last year, and I try to think one winless season will help me take a big step forward in my
career”.
Since turning professional in 2008, Ishikawa has won 10 professional titles, out of which, 9 were claimed on the Japan Golf Tour.
The 2010 was the last year when he displayed winning scores. He won three titles, namely, The Crowns, Fujisankei Classic and Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters in 2010. Since then, he is striving hard to win.
“I hope to get off to a strong start tomorrow,” Ishikawa shared his views for the Token Homemate Cup. “I love this golf course. I finished third here last year. I think I know how to play this course”.
He has played and will also play on the PGA Tour this year. He has a temporary tour card for the current year.
He amazed his US fans by recording T13 at Farmers Insurance Open and T17 at World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
Similarly, he also played well at the Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com and secured the runner-up position there. This was also the best finish of PGA so far.
Hence, he can fulfil his high aims and desires this year. By scoring well, he can achieve his expectations in Japan and in the US as well.
