Ryosuke Irie captures Men’s 100m backstroke gold: Day two - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Ryosuke Irie of Japan captured gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on day two of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Friday, June 15.
Irie faced tough competition from Camille Lacourt of France throughout the discipline but with his invincible efforts, he managed to outperform him over the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his alluring efforts, he remained marginally slower from his toughest rival and sprinted his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 53.71 seconds.
The champion was chased by Lacourt, who stayed 0.06 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the event by posting a time of 53.77 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Nick Driebergen of Netherlands, who suffered a deficit of nearly full body length behind and reached the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 54.53 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Aschwin Wildeboer of Spain, who stayed 0.41 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing end with the timing of 54.94 seconds.
Wildeboer was chased by Matteo Milli of Italy, who remained 0.05 seconds apart and cruised his way to the finishing end with the timing of 54.99 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, Milli was chased by Bastiaan Leysen of Netherlands, who tried hard to surpass his foregoing finisher but ended sixth in the event. With his impeccable efforts, Milli remained nearly half body length apart and sprinted his way towards the finishing
end with the timing of 55.54 seconds for sixth position.
Similarly, Leysen remained 0.25 seconds away from his following swimmer, Mathias Gydesen of Denmark, who occupied seventh position of the discipline by clocking a time of 55.79 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Marcin Tarczynski of Poland, who was 0.23 seconds apart and posted a time of 56.02 seconds.
The arena acknowledged forceful efforts of all participants in the 100m discipline while the position holders received medals and accolades for their commendable forms at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the session ended
after the completion of all listed events.
