Ryosuke Irie clinches the Men’s 100m back-stroke title: Mare Nostrum, Canet
Several swimmers gave their best performances in the second session of the 2011 Mare Nostrum in Canet, France. In the Men’s 100m back-stroke event, Japanese swimmer, Ryosuke Irie snagged the golden crown with a winning time of 53.72 seconds. Irie is a swimming sensation of Russia. He has won many medals in competitive swimming.
Previously, Irie took home three gold medals in the Men’s 100m, 200m back-stroke events and one silver title in the 4x100m medley event at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. Additionally, Irie won two gold medals in the Men’s 100m and 200m breast-stroke and one gold medal in the 4x100m medley finals at the 2009 Summer Universiade Championships, in Belgrade.
As the 2011 FINA World Championships are going to be held at Shanghai in July, Irie is determined to give his best performance in all the back-stroke and Individual Medley events. Meanwhile, he claimed that he has one distinctive goal of his life, which is to grab his ever first golden crown at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. On the other hand, Jeremy Stravius captured the silver medal with a time of 53.94 seconds and Junya Koga earned bronze title with a time of 54.49 seconds.
In the Men’s 200m freestyle final, French swimmer, Yannick Agnel clinched the gold medal in the respective meet with a winning time of 1 minute and 47.05 seconds. Placed second in the corresponding meet was Takeshi Matsuda with a victorious time of 1 minute and 48.02 seconds, while Tommaso D’Orsogna snared bronze medal with a time of 1 minute and 49.80 seconds.
The Men’s 100m butterfly title was won by Takuro Fujii with a fastest time of 52.24 seconds, whereas, Laszlo Cseh grabbed the golden crown in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley race with a winning time of 1 minute and 58.99 seconds. Last, but not the least, Matt Targett picked up the top seed in the Men’s 50m freestyle with a sterling time of 22.19 seconds. The swim also moved him into the 12th spot in the world rankings.
