Ryosuke Irie dominates Men’s 200m back-stroke event - Mare Nostrum, Canet
After the scintillating performances of swimmers yesterday, day two of the 2011 Mare Nostrum started in stunning fashion with the furious effort of Japanese swimmer, Ryosuke Irie, in the Men’s 200m back-stroke final at Canet, in France, on June 9, 2011.
The championship provides international swimmers with a chance to compete in their main events before the upcoming 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July. Swimmers took full advantage of the opportunity and put up a wonderful show in the meet.
Irie took home the golden crown in the corresponding event with a fastest time of 1 minute and 54.54 seconds. Earlier, he secured three fastest times of 1 minute and 54.08 seconds, 54.55 seconds and 54.62 seconds, this year. In 2011, the swimmer has enjoyed
a superb run of form in the pool.
Pool conditions were really good and obliging for the Japanese swimmer, as it helped him immensely to produce his fourth fastest time of the year.
The silver title was taken over by Kazuki Watanabe with a winning time of 1 minute and 58.21 seconds. This year, his best time in the corresponding meet is 1 minute and 57.21 seconds. The bronze title went to Peter Bernek with a time of 2 minutes and 00.09
seconds.
After the race, Ryosuke Irie took a huge sigh of relief and admitted that it was really nice to swim under such fascinating pool conditions. He was very excited and pleased with what he has done and achieved, up to now.
He won four gold medals in both the back-stroke and Individual Medley events at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. Besides, he snagged three golden crowns in the respective swimming events at the 2009 Summer Universiade championship in Belgrade.
Irie is now very keen and determined to give his best performance at the Shanghai World Championships in July, 2011. Moreover, he desperately wants to secure his first ever gold medal in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The crowd gave a huge round of applause to all swimmers after the completion of the Men’s 200m back-stroke meet.
