  1. From youth development teams, schools, colleges and perhaps maybe out of the blue.

What's important is not the number of people with a certain skin colour, it's whether they could bring happiness to the people of SA. They certainly did it this time around.

  2. They come from the same places as the white boks... Through different schoolboy academies and youth development programs.

With the new S.A. initiative to get more players of color in the team there has been a huge surge in township players being offered rugby scholarships to play for fairly high profile schools (queens college, etc.), where they will develop there skills and abilities.

One of the major development tracks for black players in South Africa is through the IRB sevens circuit (Bryan Habana made his first S.A. appearance there), which is fairly typical for most national teams with development programs (Lomu, Umanga, Campo, and a whole raft of others did the same).

From there it's a super 14 or Currie Cup club where they go into the national selection pool. The main reason for the lack of balck players in south africa is mainly due to the fact that you need to buy the right equipment to play rugby (which can be expensive) whereas all you need to play football/soccer is a ball...

At the level that international players are expected to preform, police clubs and lower grade professional clubs have very little impact on the players that they seed to the national teams, and nowadays the development program in SA is at the point where they actually don't need so many feeder clubs.

  3. err... South Africa????
