  1. The 14th arrondissement on the south side of the sity is a perfectly nice neighborhood and the Citadines Paris Didot Alésia receive good reviews.

The location is away from the city center but still in the city itself. The metro and city buses are very efficient and will get you to anywhere you want to go fairly quickly.

  2. I'm staying in the 14 arrodisement too and I haven't had problems getting to tourist attractions like the one you mentioned. Just get a city map that contains the metro and bus stops and you're all set. The metro has maps inside each wagon that are very self explanatory.

I suck at directions back in my hometown, and (thanks to God and the good metro system) I haven't gotten lost here :P

  3. Hello,

You can see where this hotel is located on this map: http://tinyurl.com/25ztme (in english).

It is located near the south border of the city, and you will have to walk during 5 or 10 minutes to go to the nearest subway (metro) station. Click on the subway icon on the map and the stations will be displayed, zoom out to have a better view.

The aera itself is not really exciting, but nice and safe. You can find other Citadines hotels in the city centre.

Once you're in the metro, it is rather easy to go wherever you want, but expect a travel time of about 45 minutes to go from your hotel to the Louvre. This website (in english) will tell you how to go from one location to another, and how much time is needed: http://www.ratp.info/informer/anglais/

If you prefer to call a taxi, expect the cost to be between 20 and 25 euros to go from your hotel to the Louvre. Taxis Bleus is a popular taxi chain in Paris, you can call them at 01 49 36 10 10 (i guess they speak english, just wait until someone answers after the automated welcome message). It is a much nicer, easier and faster way to travel than the metro, but a lot more expensive. However, I suggest that one night, you go back home by taxi and ask the driver to drive you around the Seine, from the Concorde to "Quai François Mitterand", via "Quai des Tuileries", where the view at night is breathtaking. Each time I see that, I can't believe how beautiful it is. It is worth doing it by car. On the opposite side of the Seine, on "Quai Voltaire", if you see two cops in front of a building, then this is where the previous President, Jacques Chirac, lives ;-).

Don't hesitate to ask anything else, and have a good trip.
