This is a very weird problem and I'd appreciate anyone's help. I have an Acer Extensa 4620-4648 that I'm trying to connect to a Philips HDTV using the S-Video connection. My problem is that the display on the TV is sometimes totally clear, but other times it is distorted and covered with wavy black lines. I've noticed that the lines only appear when the laptop is plugged in. Also, I've noticed that the distortion occurs as soon as the metal partof the power cord touches the inside of the jack in the computer, evenbefore it is fully "plugged in" (I can even trigger the distortion by just lightly touching the metal part of the cord to the jack).I have tried connecting the S-Video to the TV both before and after the computer has started up. I have also tried connecting both with and without the computer being plugged in. Either way the pattern is the same: clear when running on batteries, distorted when plugged in. I can use it without having it plugged in for short periods (< 2 hours), but I'd like to use the TV to watch movies, etc... Anyone have any thoughts?
