Question:

S-Video splitter question?

I understand that some Audio/Video splitters have Composite and S-Video ports. Let's say that I had the Composite and S-Video cables going to the TV from the splitter. But I have a VCR that doesn't have S-Video ports, but Composite only. Will the splitter convert the signal to S-Video, or not?

  1. Not even expensive A/V receivers will convert composite to s-video or vice-versa.  In and out have to be the same format.  However, there are converters available for that.  See http://www.svideo.com/rcatosvideo.html

    and http://www.shoptronics.com/stocorcavico....

  2. I doubt it, splitters, only deliver the signal they get, to two or more systems, They don't convert, or deliver, what they don't have going in.

I have DVD/VCR  with a S-video, but it doesn's seem to work with the audio, unless I use another system. Drive one crazy,
