The Head Coach of the team, Rob Browning, made the following comments regarding the upcoming championship tournament: “Our goal is to win the World Championship and we have selected a team that can do it. The selection process was very competitive and there
are some outstanding players who were left off the roster. We have a number of veterans from last year's NORCECA Championship team as well as some new addition and I am excited to see them come together and form a cohesive team. The coaches we have selected
to join me are also exceptionally good and I feel fortunate to be able to work with them."
The 2011 WJNT includes four players that were a part of the team last year which was able to secure themselves a gold medal in the NORCECA Women’s Junior (U-20) Continental Championship. However, the team also consists of some new players who will have the
opportunity to prove their worth in the tournament.
The tournament is going to be hosted by the cities of Lima and Trujillo in Peru. In all, a total of 16 teams will be taking part in the tournament in order to prove their mettle. The last time that the championship was held in 2009, Mexicali, the city of
Mexico played host to the event. The team that was able to reach the top was the German squad, who handed out a defeat to the Dominican Republic to secure themselves a gold medal. On the other hand, Brazil was able to get land the bronze medal after defeating
the Bulgarian team.
