What are you trying to do? The S-Video jacks are not "two way"...

The S-video stream can go from the DVD play to a monitor or TV.

The S-video stream can typically only go from your PC to a monitor or TV.

If you are trying to record from the DVD player to your computer, you need an analog/digital bridge... like those from Pinnacle (Dazzle) or Canopus.
