  1. In my book, the SIG has still to prove itself for anything except limited specialty uses, whereas the the .45ACP has long done so as about the ultimate combat manstopper, LONG before almost ANY shooter here was even BORN!

Especially with the obscene price hikes in ammunition recently, with so much surplus .45 ammo & components still to be had on the market, opposed to the .357SIG, the .45ACP wins hands down.

  2. I am a big fan of the 45acp, that is what I carry everyday. The 45 has more stopping power ,and it has been around for almost 100 years.I don't think this round will ever be obsolete. The 357 sig could be obsolete in a few years.

  3. Forget both of those and get a 10mm. It has double the power of a .45 .

    Get a Glock 20 or 29.

  4. i have both, and i like both. for personal protection i like my Sig-pro 2340 in the .357 Sig { i do have both barrels, i can change it over to a .40 depending on my mood.. } because it is lighter than my .45 and fits in my purse better. for home defense, i will go with the .45 , i like knowing it is beside the bed if needed...   oh,  a solution to your problem..BUY THEM BOTH !!!  you can never have too many guns...

  5. usp try 40s&w

  6. I give the 45 ACP a slight edge. I like the big diameter, slower bullet versus smaller, very fast 357 Sig.

  7. the 357 sig was designed to deliver 357 mag performance out of a semi auto handgun, and it does, to a limited extent. the 357 mag will handle heavier bullets than the sig, which is actually a souped up 9mm.

357 sig ammo can be hard to find in some areas, and loadings are limited. 45 acp can be had just about anywhere ammo is sold, and 45 hardball ammo can be bought much cheaper than 357 sig.

the sig, while a fine cartridge, has only a small following, and will probably fade into history like many other cartridges over the years. the purpose it serves can be covered as well or better by several more established calibers.

my vote would have to be for the 45 acp. (although the sig is kinda fun.)

  8. I have both a 357 sig and a 45acp.  I like them both, easy to shoot.  The 357 sig has some muzzle flash but not bad.  I carry the 45 because I trust it and the gun is a single stack so it hides easier.  In a usp, it is a fairly big gun, either would do fine but I'd go with the 45.
