Do you like to be impressed by a guy and to what extend should he do it.

I personally like a guy to be himself and don't be a fake.  Be who you are and let women accept you the way you are. Some of the South African women like to be impressed financially.  Like taking them out on expensive date and buying expensive gifts.  Come on dude, just be yourself and be more assertive!  Play hard to get a bit that's when you become more attractive.

I love my man to pamper me & spoil me. But i don't want my man pretending to be a big shot, and straining his budget just to impress me. I'd rather know the real guy & not what he's trying to be.

lol - Barend, what did you do? No, I don't like it when a man tries to impress me. It makes me feel uncomfortable, especially when he acts like a kapokhaantjie. I like to see what I'm going to get, so I would prefer it if he would just act himself. Don't want any surprises later on. Not that this applies to me now, but it had some years ago. lol.

I think you said you're 23 in a prior post? These are the years you should enjoy, do not spend time running after women looking for relationships, when you're married you'll wish you had been more reckless and less committed in your twenties.

I think he should treat his woman but not impress.

Impress is like changing yourself to suit what someone likes, don't do that, it's a lie because when you live with them they're totally different!

Show her some of your "talents" (hehe) my boyfriend, draws me many pictures like wildlife etc and plays the guitar to me and takes me to say his favourite places. Those are the things I really appreciate and cherish. Not diamonds or pearls. I am very sentimental in things like photos and memories

I think occasionally spoiling a woman is a nice way to show your appreciation but your example sounds a bit OTT.

Most woman will be far more impressed by kind words or a nice gesture than by you flashing money.

And those who want you because you're spending lots on them are just gold-diggers and aren't worth your time anyway.

Ag I am your typical woman, I like a guy to spoil me but only to a point. If the guy is poor, I DO NOT want him to spoil me, i would rather like to spoil him, but if he is rich, then it is okay, because otherwise i will feel guilty. And anyway I do not want to feel like I owe the guy something, so in the past I have said no to gifts. Barend pointless spending R 5 000 on a girl you have seen twice. That is called wasting money.....any way you get unscrupulous women out there, just ask some of the older gentlemen on here. Wait untill you marry the right one and then you spoil her rotten because that is money well spend.....it is actually an investment, for life!
