Sophie is 1 on the 14th of this month. she has gotten herself into a routine of going for 1 long nap through the day - which is great!

if we're at home all day, she falls asleep cuddling into me, then i usually lie on the couch with her on my tummy. i feel so lazy cos 9 times out of 10 - i fall asleep too! and im not even tired!

  1. don't feel guilty! mommyhood is exhausting! one word of caution though, they say to be careful sleeping with them on the couch, because they can get stuck between you and the couch easily.  but back on topic- keep enjoying those nap times- they don't last forever!

  2. i don't think she should be on your tummy.. what are the chances of her sliding right off?

Anyways, my parents sleep when my baby brother's sleeping.  One morning I found them all in bed sleeping in different angles, kind of funny.

  3. You are not lazy.  Having a one year old is the hardest job I have ever had.  My son wears me out.  I try to nap sometimes when he does.  If I don't I end up exhausted.  This is perfectly normal.

  4. yes my little one cuddles up to me sofa i often have nap with her

  5. You arent lazy, you need the rest! I used to let mine sleep with me when they were little! Cherish every moment, they grow up SO fast!

    By the way, she's adorable!

  6. My son's 11 months old, and he's also one one long nap a day. Some days, I take a nap with him, other days I don't... it depends on how much sleep I got the previous day.

You're not lazy... while they're up and about we're so busy that we have constant energy flowing through us - once we sit down, it stops and we can feel how really tired we are. They're hard work! We just get so used to it, that we forget how much they take out of us.

Go ahead and take your nap. I wish my son would sleep with me like that, but when I try, he just thinks it's time to play! Enjoy it!

  7. I used to sleep when by baby was newborn.  It's dangerous to fall asleep with a child on the sofa though... she should really be in her cot.

  8. no, i don't.  I use the time to get stuff done around the house, shower, eat, check emails, (and, answer a few Yahoo questions...).  My baby has a hard time falling asleep anywhere outside of her crib or carseat/swing so I wouldn't be able to nap 'with' her anyway. sounds like a nice little treat for you though!

  9. Quality time. Don't knock it. Sophie knows you are there. Magic.

  10. I don't usually.  I use that time to clean, do laundry, cook, etc.  Now that I am pregnant I may just start though!  Honestly it seems as if I nap i am more sleepy when I wake up.

  11. I get up early with my husband before he goes to work every morning, and give the baby a bottle. Then, we both go back to sleep until about 9am. When he takes his mid-day nap I will sometimes sleep with him then too. Don't feel lazy. You need to re-charge for the rest of the day.

  12. the rule of thumb for my wife and I was to always sleep when the baby sleeps..... you need the rest.

  13. I have to much to do while she naps but there is nothing wrong with what you are doing, it's sweet.

  14. When I was working I would leave work in the early afternoon and I would lay my twins down on our bed and take a nap with them.  That was when they started taking an afternoon nap at the same time.  That was nice.

Now, they have 2 scheduled naps per day (on most days) and I do take a nap too.  I don't feel lazy, though.  I'm pregnant.  :-D  I know I'm going to be sleep deprived REAL soon so I'm catching up on as much sleep as possible now.

By the way- ignore the people telling you it's dangerous.  Even if she DID slide off... she's 1 year old for goodness sake.  It's not like she's 1 week old.  She'll be fine.

  15. No my hubby can't nap at work so i don't at home i would feel lazy and there jobs to be done

  16. No i do cuddle her for nap times but its my only real chance to nip on YA or watch abit of s*x and the city!! Cause when shes awake i sit and interact with her.

  17. no way! i run around trying to do everything i need to do while he naps!

    i wish i could!

  18. I miss that so much.  I slept with my baby on my chest on the couch through all of her naps for like the first 6 months.  I was finally able to put her down in her crib for her naps.  No that I am pregnant and my daughter is 13 months old I wish we were still doing this.  Now she is taking only 1 nap that lasts only about an hour and a half and I usually fold laundry or something.

  19. My son is nearly 3 and i still do it!

  20. yes sometimes i do

  21. When my little girl was little we did the exact same thing. Even if your not tired it is relaxing and bonding time and I myself enjoyed it. But hey what mom does not need a nap?
