Question:

SAHW vs Working Women vs. Men...How can everyone learn to live with each other?

Over the last couple of days, on this forum, there seems to have been some sort of incredibly odd debate going on between women who are determined to stay at home, women who are determined to work and men who don't want women to do either one. The general argument seems to be that working women want stay at home women to plan in case of future disasters, stay at home women want working women to justify not staying home (especially after children). Men seem to want women who will raise their progeny but only if they are not audacious enough to ask for help getting back into the workforce should the marriage end.

It seems like men and women have impossible choices set in front of them and it's an all or nothing deal these days. Why does it have to be this way (or at least appear to be this way)?

  1. It is only this way when people make it this way.  Do as you wish and feel is best for your family.  No one but you can judge that and the people who do need to find better things to do.

  2. And then the stay at home worker has yet to be addressed . . . . .  I get e-mails saying I could quit my job and make BIG BIG fortunes at home on my computer.

  3. Men and women should have an equal role in child rearing and in the work force. I'm still at a loss as to why it is soley the woman's responsibility to raise children.

Both of my parents worked together to raise us (all four of us girls). Sometimes my dad stood home, other times my mom did. Neither of them cooked. We all turned out healthy and independant.

  4. its a neverending war.

do what works for u, and stand up for your choices.

  5. I prefer to live alone.
