None really...

Santa Monica, a long stretch of open beach has two things going against it.

1)Urban development, aside from polluted water, the sand bars have all been eroded away.

2) Bad swell direction...

It is a beach of really bad close outs...

The closest thing for you should be either the Points up towards Malibu or south to El Porto. The latter tends to be a winter break, it is sheltered from anything from the south...

I believe its in the fall, but i wouldn't know since ive never been. You should totally go though, since the waves are pretty much awesome there all year round!
