  1. Go to these websites it has all the info you need sorry theres no link(don't know how to do it)

    www.collegeboard.com

    www.act.org

Your going to need to create an account and trust me thats the best thing to do if you want to get your results early. These two websites are the two main important componets you'll need for tose two test. Trust me. Get to know those websites like its your best friend it even has a huge databas of colleges and their info. you'll see for yourself when you go there. PLEASE DO!

Also don't worry about messing up so much this year you have junior year to bring your grades up and trust me thats the year colleges look at the most and most difficult. So you think sophmore year was hard wait until Junior year.

  2. ACT.org usually will tell you a good compare and contrast on the tests.

The ACT is longer and it has a Math, Science, English, Reading and an optional Writing that costs $19 more. but if you can get a fee waiver from your school, it's free.

The SAT has Critical Reading, Math and a mandatory Writing portion. The SAT usually tries to combine all of the math you learned throughout HS whereas the ACT keeps them separated into Alg. I, Geometrey, Alg. II and four Trig questions. KNOW YOUR FORMULAS because a teacher told me they gave them to you....they don't.

They are also scored differently. The ACT is scored on a scale of 36 with subscores for each test, including Writing. The SAT scores to 2400 with the Writing portion. There's a good chance that the SAT is going to go back to an older scoring method they dropped in 2002, but they have yet to confirm it.

I took the ACT, but some will tell you to take both to be safe. I'm not planning on it because I've taken numerous practice SAT tests and I don't like how they clump everything up in the math section, it's confusing and a bit sneaky. Also, they throw in an extra section that does not affect your grade, but it's testing the questions so they know what to put on next years test. I perfer the ACT myself and I plan on retaking it in October. Whatever you decide, don't trick yourself into thinking that you can't study for either test,  because I thought that until I actually saw it. It'll help. And eat breakfast.

And yes, you can bring up your scores as a junior, but it's a lot easier for your GPA to drop than it is to bring it back up. I know. You need to work really hard this year, but don't expect a huge change. It took me my entire junior year to go up 1 point when I was making practically all As every time.
