Question:

SAT Critical Reading?

It's really hard for me to improve my critical reading score... I got good scores on everything else on a practice test but only 600 on reading. How can I improve it quickly? I am already memorizing vocab and reading a ton of books (one of which have SAT vocab in them) so are there any other methods I can add to this?

  1. Learning vocabulary and reading to boost your critical reading skills are definitely great starts.

Both of these techniques will certainly help you to improve your logical reasoning skills. However, I think one key studying method that you're missing is running through tons of practice questions to build your familiarity with the test.

Going through a lot of CR and WR practice questions will allow you to start recognition the patterns in various question types. With that knowledge, you can improve your question-to-question speed, leaving you with more precious time to recheck and review your answer choices.

Additionally, I would strongly recommend looking into test prep options to help you get more customized help. Let's say the reason your scoring in the 600's (which is still an above average score) is because you are missing a few specific skill sets in CR and WR like "Pronoun Usage" or "Deciphering an Author's Thesis". In these cases, I would recommend looking into customized test prep.

Good luck on your test preparation!
