Question:

SAT Raw Score?

I am helping a high school student to prepare for the SAT math test. I have no problems computing the raw score. For example, if my student got 30 on her raw score, I would like to know what score she was getting. I checked on collegeboard website. It said, 530-550. So, exactly, what score was she getting? Any info would be deeply appreciated.

  1. if you have any official practice tests from the SAT headquarters or wherever, at the end of the test should be a place to calcualte the score with all the formulas on it. i dont personally know it.

  2. Actually, the raw score to scaled score (the one out of 800) conversion varies from test to test. Usually practice tests have a chart to convert raw to scaled accompanying them.

The reason for this is not all of the SAT practice tests are exactly the same difficulty. But they are very close, which is why the College Board provides a fairly small range for the conversion.

So if it was a slightly more difficult test that she scored a 30 on, she would be closer to the 550 end of the range. And if she achieved this score on one of the slightly easier tests, she would have gotten a 530.
