Question:

SAT Subject Test Scores?

I took some SAT Subject Tests in June. Here are the scores:

English Lit: 570

Chem: 750

Math Level 2: 790

Any feedback? Like what colleges are ideal for scores like these? Should I take ther subject tests? Does it look alright if I take the same test over again?

Thanks in advance :)

  1. Math Level 2 - good score, i wouldn't take it again. Most UC's require this test, so if you care about UC's, then you should be happy you're done with this one.

Chem - while 750 may not be the ideal score, it is nevertheless a respectable score; it depends on what you want to major in, and what kind of college you'd like to apply to. I can't tell you exactly where you want to go, but if you want Harvard, a slightly higher score might be needed.

English Lit - i know this a challenging SAT II, but a 570 is not a great score; you should retake if you really want to use the english lit as one of your scores, if you're a science major, don't bother.

As for retaking, if you think you can raise any score by at least 40 points, i say go for it. It's alright if you take it twice, but if you take it more than that, there is no point and you will end up looking like a point-grabber.

What colleges are ideal? well that depends on you, my friend. What do you like? You can find out SAT ranges at collegeboard.com

You would be fine for UCBerkeley, UCLA, if you have a good GPA, good extra-curriculars, good essays, etc

  2. Your scores are good for any top school. Even Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Caltech....However, this is only one single factor. If your GPA, SAT is right up there as well, then you'll recieve an acceptance anywhere you apply!
