Question:

SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) or AP Exams?

I am planning on applying to Washington University in St. Louis this November. I was reading a description about the school (http://www.zinch.com/Forms/frmCollegeProfileAdmissions.aspx?SchoolId=2800032) that said the SAT Subject Tests are recommended for admission, but it did not mention the AP Exams.

I was wondering which tests the school would prefer me to take (SAT II or AP). I have already taken the AP exams for Chemistry, English Language, and History. This upcoming school year, I am taking the AP English Literature, Statistics, Calculus, Government and Politics, Biology, Latin Vergil, and Physics courses, but am unsure how many AP exams to take, if any.

Should I take the SAT Subject Tests for some of these courses instead?

Also, I know AP scores will be mailed out sometime in July, but I was wondering if anyone knew when, because I am leaving for the National Key Club Convention on July 9th so I was wondering what the chances are that I will receive my scores before then.

  1. Take AP classes because if you score high enough (3,4, or 5) on the AP test you will be awarded college credit. AP classes add rigor to your high school curriculum.  You need to have a rigorous curriculum in order to get in to Washington  University in St. Louis because it is such a competitive school. You should also take SAT Subject Tests after taking AP classes in those subjects because they will fully prepare you for the SAT Subject tests.
