  1. Princeton Review. Do not buy the CollegeBoard edition (it's blue and white) because they merely give you sample tests and answers.

Princeton Review not only explains all of the material from an outside perspective, but they also offer explanations for EVERY SINGLE ONE of their answers. So they tell you WHERE and WHY you messed up on something. This helps so much when you want to learn from previous mistakes.

  2. I didn't use any books at all, and like you I got a fairly high score the first time around (2210 in my case). I didn't do ANYTHING to study between the first and second times I took it, 5 months later (figuring that my score was fairly impressive already), and my score rose 180 points to 2390. I think a familiarity with the test format, more than anything, will add a lot to your score. All of the people I've talked to went up a least a little the second time they took it. However, if you want to study, for the reading/writing, review old tests and just read in general...you'll pick up new vocabulary words without even having to think about it; and I find that the more you read the more you get a feel for what just "looks right" on the questions where you have to choose the best way to write or punctuate a sentence. Read books, magazines, or anything else with a high level of diction and when possible a sophisticated subject matter.

For math, unless you know there's an area you struggle in, just take a couple old tests to get a feel for the material, learn how to correct your mistakes on questions you got wrong, and no matter how tired you may be after the EXTRAORDINARILY tedious 5 hour test, make sure to check your answer on every math question. I prefer to do each problem, and then see if my answer is one of the options. Then, even if it is, I quickly review my math to be sure I didn't make a mistake before moving on to the next problem or even bubbling in my answer. Also, on math, unless you're worried about running out of time, scribble down what you're doing as you do it. It's easier to find your mistakes when you can see your work than it is to just reattempt a problem when your answer isn't one of the options.

  3. I initially got 1700 on my SAT's as well. I used TutorFox.com's sat guide and the Princeton Review's sat guide in order to improve my scores. Both books extensively cover all the information needed to do well on the test. I eventually got a 2200+. I highly recommend those two books.
