  1. yeah that isn't fair =(

  2. Forget these classes.  Colleges take into account your families income level and they know whether you were able to afford a prep class.  This will not be held against you.  Prep classes should be banned.  They are against the spirit of the test.

  3. Actually, you don't really need an SAT class to do well on the SAT. Most people I know who take SAT classes go away from the class feeling like they learning nothing, and some people who don't take them just ace them because they're smart.

Besides, learning to motivate yourself is a valuable tool that proves to be helpful in college and colleges like to know that you can do that. In fact, if you study by yourself and do well, you can even write it into an essay and tell your school of choice how diligent you are.

If you can't motivate yourself, find someone who scored well on the SAT previously and ask them whether they're willing to tutor you. It definitely shouldn't cost as much and you get the added plus of one-on-one time.

  4. You don't need a class to prepare for the SAT's.  I just paid attention in my regular classes.  I didn't even study for the SAT's and I scored well.

  5. i really dont think thats true. i know some very poor students who had to work to support their family. they are motivated and driven people who studied hard and got into harvard.

if you are lazy by nature, whether you are rich or poor, you will not do well on the sat. tutoring programs can only do so much. if you are lazy, you deserve to go wherever you get into, regardless of your family's income.

  6. i know! but then again, if you are really in need of financial aid colleges go easier on you to accept you

  7. it isnt i thank God that my school has those classes as a class....so its free

  8. SAT prep does nothing for you, don't sweat it.  A tutor doesn't have some magical SAT book.  They usually use the collegeboard books or some raw knowledge from experience.  No matter what it is, you can always pick up on the same things yourself.  The only things a tutor can offer you are weird strategies that arne't guaranteed to work anyway.

I'm in the same boat as you are- as are millions of other kids- so don't whine about it.  I did just fine on my SAT's (1920) without looking at a single book. Same goes for the ACT's(32).  Half of the problem with not being able to afford the class is that you're going to go into the test feeling like you're destined to do poorly.  If you go into it with a good attitude it'll be better.

  9. no that is not fair.there should be some sort of scholarship thing if u ask me. education is not a privelage.its a right.
