Hi,

I purchased a SBI Gold credit card one year back in India. While signing the card, the professional told that there would be no Annual charges for this card. Currently I am having the card in US and I haven't used the card not even once till now in India as well as US. But yesterday I received a SBI statement stating that I need to pay Rs. 1650 for annual charges. I sent a mail to SBI but haven't received any reply.

1) Could you please let me know how can I take up this issue?

2) Without being told that there is an annual fees, Do I need to pay it?

3) I want to contact the SBI customer care from US & talk to them regarding this. What number do I need to contact?

4) Can my parents in India can approach SBI bank, escalate & cancel the card.

5) Let me know what step can be taken to waive the charge?

  1. Yes, I would take the time and contact them about this matter, if they take the fee away, and still insist that they have an annual fee, then you should just close the account.  If they don't take the fee away, and still insist that they have an annual fee and this information is in your contract, then you will have to pay.  And I would still close the account, and put it in writing, also.

  2. You have a lt of questions and perhaps they are answerable only by SBI people.

    SBI customer care number is 00 91 80 26599990

Call them ans ask for a explanation. They might help you. But they dont give you service like any private banks, but still you can call them and ask the issue.

The professional might have told you that there is no anual fees, but it is your sole responsibility to read the docs before you sign up. If they tell you to pay, there is no other way pay off. Its just $40 na.

Hope i answered you in a best way.
