SBV Excelsior’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Pastoor unhappy with his side’s show against FC Den Bosch – Eredivisie news
SBV Excelsior passed a scare in the relegation play-offs first-leg encounter against FC Den Bosch, as the Eredivisie outfit came from behind and managed to end the game in a 3-3 stalemate at Stadion De Vliert on Thursday, May 19. In spite of the match ending
in a draw, Alex Pastoor, the Kralingers manager, was disappointed with his men’s performance on the pitch.
“Very moderate football. The dominant football came in the last ten, fifteen minutes of the match, before that we were far below standard.” Pastoor said.
The 44-year-old tactician believes that there is a different tension while participating in the relegation/promotion play-offs. He admitted that there is always a chance to find the perfect rhythm in league encounters, but there is no chance of coming back
in a two-legged tie.
“It's a different kind of tension in the playoffs and that players must learn to go along. In that respect, I am pleased that this ice is broken. Now, we can just go and play football again.” He explained.
Den Bosch played impressively in front of their home crowd and seemed destined to win by the end of 90 minutes. However, two goals in quick succession by substitute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Vincken-c35106, snatched the victory from the home side in the dying minutes of the match.
The Kralingers finished 16th in the league table, tying in the points tally with the 15th placed Vitesse Arnhem. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905’s goal difference was better than the Kralingers, forcing the outfit from Excelsior to participate in
the relegation play-offs.
Pastoor will be taking over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 Nijmegen’s managerial hot seat before the start of the 2011/12 season. He will be hoping to end the season on a high by avoiding relegation with his current team.
Pastoor’s men would be brimming with confidence when they take on Den Bosch in the return leg at Stadion Woudestein on Saturday, May 21. Should they manage to win in front of their home crowd, they will progress through to the third round of the relegation
play-offs.
