The Kralingers boss has heaped praise on Phillip Cocu’s side following their 3-1 loss on the final day of the 2011/12 Eredivisie season.
SBV Excelsior head coach, John Lammers, has insisted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven deserved to emerge victorious. The Boeren claimed an easy 3-1 win over the Kralingers at Stadion Woudestein on Sunday, May 6.
The 48-year-old tactician saw his side struggle throughout the season and was hoping to finish the campaign on a high. However, the Eindhoven giants had no intentions of dropping points on Sunday evening.
PSV broke the deadlock in the 10th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremain-Lens-c18323 doubled his side’s advantage eight minutes before the half-time interval.
The home side resumed proceedings brightly, knowing that PSV have the tendency to concede an goal early in the second-half, and reduced the deficit in the 50th minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ola-Toivonen-c28363 fouled Jordy van Deelen inside the
box, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luigi-Bruins-c22636 coolly converted the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-1.
However, PSV gained control of the match yet again and reclaimed their two-goal advantage in the 66th minute when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georginio-Wijnaldum-c14629 hit the back of the net.
Lammers was obviously disappointed with the loss and revealed that his side wanted to conclude the disappointing season on a high.
“To cut a long story short; we were heading into the game, anxious to take our last chance. We started brightly, but PSV took an early lead. We got one chance to level the score. If we had taken it, it could have been a different
game. We made some attacking substitutions during half-time”, the Dutch tactician was quoted as saying to the media.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 player went on to admit that PSV were the better side throughout the 90 minutes and deservingly bagged all three points.
“PSV regularly concede goal in the first fifteen minutes of the second half, so we put pressure on their defence after the restart. We closed them down and managed to reduce the deficit. But PSV were the better side. All credit
to them, they deserved their win”, Lammers concluded.
SBV Excelsior's relegation from the Dutch top flight to Eerste Divisie was confirmed following the defeat.
