SC Beira-Mar vs Sporting Braga- Portuguese Liga ZON Sagres recap
The Portuguese Liga ZON Sagres is moving towards its closing stages as SC Beira-Mar and Sporting Braga locked horns on Saturday, 2 April at Estadio Municipal de Aveiro. The visitor’s edged past Rui Bento’s Beira-Mar with a 2-1 margin. The home side’s defender,
Jaime, provided a helping hand in Braga’s victory.
Auri-negros went in with a 4-3-3 formation. Martins Elio, Leandro Tatu and Ishmael Yartley started upfront for the hosts and Rui Rego guarded the net. The visitor’s on the other hand went in with a standard 4-4-2 formation. Lima and Paulo Cesar were involved
in a partnership upfront while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Artur-c6727 started in goal for the Os Arcebispos.
Both teams started the game with some flare and it took a while for the teams to settle down. Braga, who started the game fifth in the table were looking desperate to win in order to give them a chance to obtain a UEFA Champions League qualification place.
The home team though settled down a bit and started passing the ball to maintain possession. The Minhotos were pushed a little bit on to the back foot and had to play the waiting game as the home team showed some glimpses of their skills. Both defences looked
firm but continued pressure from the home side forced a mistake from the visitor’s. Tatu in the 40th minute gave his side a 1-0 advantage and brought the crowd back to life. With just five minutes remaining in the first half, Braga decided to keep
the ball with them in order to eat away the remaining time and come out fighting in the second half.
With the visitor’s trailing 1-0, there was a clear indication of what Braga would look for as they come out for the second half. As expected, Minhotos started pressing hard right from the start of the second half with Cesar causing a lot of problems. Braga’s
midfield lacked some urgency and desire as Vandinho, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukra-c35683 were substituted in favour of Mossoro, Ze Meyong and Custodio. With three new faces, Braga looked like a changed outfit and this forced the hosts to rethink their strategy. The pressure
on the hosts started to show as their defender, Jaime, committed a horrendous mistake that drew Braga level on the 69th minute mark. There was no holding back after that equaliser as the second half substitute for Os Arcebispos, Meyong, netted his
shot past Rego to give Braga the lead in the 71st minute. The home team tried their level best to make a comeback but it was too late as Sporting Braga registered a hard fought victory over Beira-Mar.
With this victory, Braga now finds themselves third in the table with 40 points while Beira-Mar are tenth. Braga will take on Guimaraes on the 12 of April while Beira-Mar will host Olhanense on the 10 of April in their next League game.
