SC Braga's Elderson likely to be sold in January – Report
Portuguese Primeira Liga side, SC Braga, are reportedly looking to sell Elderson in the upcoming transfer window. The Nigerian has been an influential player at the helm; however the club’s dire lack of finances seems to be forcing their hand once again.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 Jardim’s SC Braga may be counted amongst the top four in Portuguese football, but like many struggling teams they are forced to sell their most prized assets in order to balance their books.
While the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 and Benfica maybe a force to be reckoned with in Europe, they too follow the sale policy adopted by many outfits in Liga Sagres.
The Archbishops are no different and despite being relatively successful over the years, have had to sell some their best players in order to strengthen other areas of the squad or to improve facilities.
Braga made a profit of €5.2 million in the 2010/2011 campaign and could go beyond that figure this time, if they manage to secure the right deal for their star defender.
Elderson, who joined Estadio AXA from Rennes last year, has since gone from strength to strength and will in all likelihood fetch far more than the €2.5 million his employers shelled out for his services.
Belgian side, Club Brugge, are allegedly in the race to acquire the 23-year-old but teams from the Spanish La Liga and the French league have also been credited with an interest.
However the biggest suitors looking to sign the defender are definitely English Premier League champions, Manchester United, who were on his trail not so long ago.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, who has looked far from convincing this term. The Scot is thought to be on the look for a quality replacement and Elderson fits the bill perfectly.
United, who boast considerable financial muscle, could easily brush aside all other interested parties and land the Super Eagles International with a bid in the range of €5 to €10 million.
That figure could be quite tempting for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Braga-c40460, as it would go a long way in helping them end their financial woes and a transfer should materialize if the Red Devils lodge an official bid.
