SC Freiburg Captain Heiko Butscher remains optimistic despite Mainz defeat- Bundesliga news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heiko-Butscher-c15983 has stated that he is optimistic of good results in the future despite some poor showings lately. He admitted that the team needs to improve if it has any chance of staying put in the Bundesliga.
The club has had a rather poor start to the current campaign as they drew the first match against newly promoted FC Augsburg and lost the second fixture at home to in-form http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 last week.
Butscher insisted that the result against Mainz could have been better as the team had some good chances in the first period to score. He rued missed opportunities and added that mistakes had cost them the match.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Bochum-c40880 player stated that if the team had taken the chances early in the match and scored, the situation could well have been in the favour of the hosts. He expressed his disappointment on the loss and urged the
players to learn from the mistakes in the future.
“In the first half we gave very little away, but managed to create two or three good chances for ourselves at the other end. If we had managed to break the deadlock at that point the game would have gone a lot differently, so at
the end of the day I'm not too unhappy,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The captain said that conceding two times in the second-half meant that there no chance whatsoever to comeback in the match. He added that it was a lapse in concentration from the defence which led to the opposition scoring twice
in a matter of 15 minutes.
“At that point it's a shame that we didn't manage to do so because it meant we had to open ourselves up as we searched for the equaliser, which obviously left us with gaps all over the pitch,” he concluded.
Heiko Butscher has so far made 118 league appearances for SC Freiburg in his four years at the club and scored nine goals in the process.
