SC Freiburg officials have given a pay rise to their influential striker, Papiss Demba Cisse, in order to making him stay at the club until next summer. The player was previously linked with a host of European outfits during the summer but no club matched
Freiburg’s valuation of 15 million Euros.
The officials feared Cisse’s departure during the upcoming winter transfer window and therefore have given him a pay rise which has been accepted by the player. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 international is now certain to stay at badenova-Stadion until the end of 2011/12
season.
Freiburg will definitely offer a new contract to the striker which is highly unlikely to be accepted by the 26-year-old.
Cisse previously mentioned that he desperately wants to leave the club in order to leave himself with a chance of winning silverware. The striker has been in prolific form for the club this season and has already scored four goals so far from five appearances.
The Senegalese was the second highest goalscorer in Bundesliga last season, with 22 goals from 32 league games.
Freiburg’s sporting director Dirk Hufner is pleased to retain the striker and his hoping for a repeat of last season’s performances. While talking to the local newspaper, the sporting director further enthused, "After long negotiations we have found the
right solution for both parties. It was very important for us that he remained another season."
The former Metz player landed in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in 2010 and has 32 league goals to his name from 53 appearances. He earned his international debut in 2010 and already has an impressive return for his country: seven goals from 10 caps.
Freiburg are currently 15th on the league table with four points from six games and will next be in action against Schalke on Saturday, September 24, at Veltins Arena.
Cisse is unlikely to stay beyond this season if Freiburg continue their poor form, with the likes of Newcastle United and Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 interested.
