The right-back has reached an agreement with the Rotterdammers, and will join the fallen Eredivisie giants this summer on a free transfer.
Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daryl-Janmaat-c10384, has reached an agreement with Feyenoord Rotterdam.
The 22-year-old has a contract at Abe Lenstra Stadion that runs until the end of the ongoing campaign and will join the Rotterdammers on a Bosman move. The youngster has reportedly penned down a deal that will keep him at De Kuip Stadion until the summer
of 2015.
Janmaat expressed contentment and revealed that he wanted to join a new club in order to enhance his skills further.
“I am glad. Some other clubs were also interested, but I preferred Feyenoord. The club wanted to renew my contract, but after spending four years with Heerenveen, I needed to test myself elsewhere”, Janmaat was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Rotterdammers technical director, Martin van Geel, also expressed joy at the 22-year-old’s decision to join his side. He revealed that the young defender has already proven his worth with the Friesland outfit and will certainly fit in perfectly.
“Daryl fits into our picture for the future. He is young, has already proven his worth, and he will surely get further better. He is a good defender, and his ability to move forward to support the front-line makes him even better. We are very pleased with
his decision of joining us”, Van Geel said while talking to the media.
The Rotterdam giants were looking to sign a new right-back, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gill-Swerts-c14897 are expected to leave the club at the end of the ongoing 2011/12 campaign. And the club management sees the 22-year-old as a perfect replacement.
Janmaat is a product of the Stadiumclub’s youth academy, but never made it into the Rotterdammers’ first team. He joined Heerenveen in the summer of 2008 after spending a season on loan with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221.
His consistent performances at the back for the Friesland outfit were convincing enough for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 to acquire his services for the coming seasons.
