SCG Test now a catch-up game for India, admits http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 Ashwin – Cricket News Update
Indian off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228, has admitted that his team will have to put in extra effort to bounce back in the ongoing second Test at Sydney Cricket Ground.
In reply to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 earned a lot of respect by smashing an unbeaten 251-run-knock while
the under-fire batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, regained his form by hitting a ton.
With Australia leading by 291 runs, the Indians are almost out of the game. And the Men in Blue will have to go hard at the Kangaroos on the remaining three days to avoid another embarrassing defeat on the tour.
Ashwin agreed that his teammates will now have to go for a catch-up game and play out of their skins to challenge http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the Sydney Test.
"It`s going to be a catch-up game from now on. We will have to dig deep and bat long. One or two person will have to stand up and try to turn things around from now on," said a visibly frustrated Ashwin.
Team Blue is already one game down in the series, and it is a make-or-break Test for the tourists to stay alive in the four-Test competition. Ashwin described that now is the time for the guys to stand up and deliver.
"But if you need to turn it around, you need players to stand up and make themselves counted. It has to come from within. You can`t really sit together. It`s all fine when you sit together and give all those speeches. Those speeches are very good to watch
on TV. It has to come from within. You have to deliver out there," added the 25-year-old spinner who is wicket-less so far in the match.
After the second day’s play, the Indian bowlers came under the scanner, as they were too defensive. Ashwin, however, defended the move, and stated that since the side did not have a big total in pockets, the bowlers had to go defensive in order to save runs.
