SCG Thailand Open 2012: Kai Liang Chang ousts Victor Kravchenko in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Chinese Taipei’s Kai Liang Chang found a good start when he overpowered Victor Kravchenko of Kazakhstan in Men’s Singles qualifying round at the SCG Thailand Open 2012 on Tuesday, June 6, in Thailand.
The spirited and experienced Taipei shuttler showed his worth in his opening match in the tournament by playing to his maximum potential and remained successful in winning the battle with a tight margin in three games.
Kai Liang employed all of his skills to overpower his aggressive opponent and managed to win the match in hard-fought rubber games while consuming 30 minutes in the court.
In the meanwhile, Victor could not find the best start but wrapped up the second game with a tight margin. However, he failed to overpower his rival the final set and lost the battle with a decent margin.
In the opening set, it was Kai Liang who found a good start and took an early lead but failed to maintain it as his opponent levelled the score until the end of opening half.
After the break, the Taipei shuttler geared up his speed in all areas of the court and managed to take over the control from Victor. He sailed smoothly in the concluding half and took the set with a margin of 21-16.
In the following set, Victor put up superb show as he did not let his Taipei rival to dictate the pace this time and remained close to him until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Kai Liang tried to create difference but failed as his opponent was playing positive and fast badminton this time.
The Taipei shuttler could not play attacking game in the ending points and lost the set with a tight margin of 19-21.
In the final set, Kai Liang showed his aggression in the court as he played with impressive speed and took a sensational lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Taipei shuttler continued his killing run while remaining in full command of rallies and easily wrapped up the final set with a 21-17 score on the board.
Kai Liang won this Men’s Singles competition in three games with a thrilling margin of 21-16, 19-21 and 21-17.
