SCHWERINER SC defeats Rote Raben VILSBIBURG by 3-2 in German national league
The SCHWERINER SC German women’s club volleyball team met with their Rote Raben VILSBIBURG counter parts in the national league matches that are currently under way in Germany.
The match was hosted in the German city of Schwerin. The total number of spectators who came to support their home side was 1,700.
The two sides took the match to five thrilling sets at the end of which CS stood at victors at the following final set scores: 25-14, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18 and 15-8.
The head coach of the Rote Raben side shared his views in the following manner at the press conference conducted after the match had ended, “In my opinion SCHWERINER SC has got the best individual players of the Bundesliga and so I do not feel any shame
for losing this match.”
The first set of the match saw the home side coming out strong and taking the lead for itself with its superior blocking tactics. The Rote Raben squad tired to close in the gap but the SC were too fast for them throughout the frame. As a result, it did not
take long for the home side to secure the opening set of the game at 25-14.
The loss of the first set got the Rote Raben to rally together and step up their game that enabled them to put pressure on the home side by sticking with the lead for the majority of the set. The Rote Raben was successful in making the match reach a tie.
The confidence generated by winning the second set got the Rote Raben going in the third set too and they secured another win. However, the home side pulled themselves back in the game and made the match reach a fifth set which they bagged as well.
The contest between the two sides marked the last time that the two clubs played together before the final of the German cup takes place on March 4. Both SC and Rote Raben will be seen playing in the title match of the German Bundesliga. The competition
is planned to be the Gerry Weber Stadium.
