SCRIMP (shrimp)?

Seriously people? It's SHRIMP. There's no C (or K - however it's spelled in ebonics) in shrimp.

Where did SCRIMP come from? What do you call it?

"ya'll got that scrimp scampi?" are you kidding me

  1. Seriously, you seem to be irritated by a mispronunciation. If it's all that important to you and you feel that you must, then feel free to correct the offending party. But by making the Ebonics connection, you make yourself sound racist.

But maybe it's just my own ignorance of what should or should not be perceived as racism.

I am not African-American but I have many acquantances who are and I have never heard anyone of any race say SCRIMP in place of SHRIMP.

Lighten up a bit on this issue. There are much more important things in the world to worry about.

  2. It doesn't bother me as long as I know what the customer wants.  Maybe some people just can't say that vowel sound.

  3. LOL.... I've heard Scrimp before and I laugh every time I hear it..... Some people say it and I don't know why....

I moved to Texas a few years ago and still cannot get used to "ya'll", but people are so friendly here, it just makes me smile.
