what are the basic rules for writing numbers in scientific notation? please explain in detail .. thanks =)

  1. Write a number between 1 and 10 times a power of 10.   Example:   5280 would be 5.280 X 10^3

    0.00325 would be    3.25 X 10 ^-3    Numbers less than 1 would have a negative exponent.
