SD Card memory loss problem!?

Ok, here we go. I have a 2 GB sd memory card and its been working fine for a while, until now. My Brother wanted me to take a picture of him so I slipped the card in a camera. I took the picture and tried to see the pic, it didn't show on the screen.

"Thats weird" I said. So I put it in the computer to see if my camera just didn't display it, it was much more then that. When I tried to open the hard disk (on my computer) it said it needed to be reformatted.c**p, well I had 1.5 GB of memory on it that would go poof, but I couldn't do anything about it, so I formated it. It wasn't a HUGE deal (I though), I could just put all my stuff back on it, ( I had some of it on the computer) but to my dismay when I formated the card then peeked inside, something horrible had happened. It showed the max memory (on properties) to be only 974 MB. WHAT THE c**p!! Where did all that memory go?! All 1.26 GB of it! I have no idea. I tried formating it with different devices, nothing worked. I might try another computer, but in the mean time I'll see if my problem can be solved.

How can I get my memory back, and what the heck happened? I've never seen this before.

  1. NEVER  format a card with ANYTHING other than the camera it's being used in.  And don't swap cards among different cameras.

Never allow the computer to erase images off the card once they're downloaded.

Now, take a deep breath and do this ... re-format the card in the camera.

then, if you need to, you might find some image recovery software and se if you can get back any images you may have lost.

    good luck!
