SD card malfunction.?

My memory card suddenly has decided not to work - it says "card cannot be used" when put in either my Nikon or my computer. What is the best way to recover the photos on this card - if you can even? There are over 200 pictures from a recent vacation that are irreplaceable. I didn't delete any of the pictures, nor did I overwrite them. I always upload my pictures after any occasion and when I tried this time it didn't work. I already tried www.cardrecovery.com and it did find all the images but over half of them are choppy or have lines through them. Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

  1. Are the choppy/line pictures grouped together or random??? It seems like you have a problem with the camera, if the card was bad the camera wouldn't have written the picture files to your card to begin with. Try to find the same model camera and use it to try and download your pictures. Go to the card mfg. web site and see if they have recovery software on line.

  2. Have you tried a card reader or are you using the built in card reader on your computer. The one on your computer might not read it if the size of the card is 1G or larger, a card reader will read any size.
